Wallow Within I still haven't found an answer why Inquisition has blown up like they have and gems like One Master are only known to those who dig deep into the underground. This is one of the greatest USBM projects ever and falls nothing short of european authorities such as early Horna or Thy Darkened Shade. LB is a modern Black Metal essential album.

Conor Pittman Powerful and gnarly occult black metal. Really good songwriting that draws you in and doesn’t let go. Favorite track: Death Resurrection.

Sekator Grim, furious black metal, burning with an internal flame that is impossible to ignore. Great songwriting. Favorite track: Will of the Shadow.

Grim the Reaper Oh my god, this band! So glad I discovered this, fave 2017 black metal release right here.

This thing is catchy, it's got personality, and most importantly it sucks me into this hurricane of darkness that leads to this world of unholy evil, blasphemous rituals, cold frozen landscapes and sinister intentions. I will definitely be checking out this band's earlier work, because this isn't a world that I want to leave.

Paul Jeffrey It took multiple listens but I think this is the most powerful black metal album I've heard so far this year. The title is perfect. Hateful and diseased. Favorite track: The Black Bat.

Matthew Toye One Master's follow-up to 'Reclusive Blasphemy' is another tome of seething black metal. The production might be just a touch better this time, but doesn't reduce the attack of this great project. Favorite track: The Black Bat.
